How do you raise 3√2 to the power of 5 (3√2)^5=

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

This would be (3^5)(√2^5) this is (243)(4√2), which is 972√2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you do (√2)^5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt(2) is the same as 2^(1/2) so (sqrt(2))^5 is (2^(1/2))^5 which is 2^(1/2*5) which is 2^2.5 2^2.5 is 2^2 * 2^0.5 which is 4 * sqrt(2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh because 2^0.5 is same as √2. Thank you so much for explaining that!
