anyone can help me describe how distance ,velocity, accelerations, and energies involved in designing a roller coaster ride.
You can think about gravitational potential energy. U=mgy, m is mass, g is gravity, y is height.
You can try to understand with the first problem of this attachement. It is in Italian but you can understand the formula
mmmm nice :) That dependes on the way u r looking. From the point of view of the rider :) this things are important! Velocity means speed! thats exciting When there is high accelaration the rider feels a strong force that pulls him to the chair or from side to side. mmm distance, the longer the ride its more fun :) and energy - high potential energy means that I have a long fall ahead :) nice right? :) Now from the designer/engineer poit of view I want to give the rider the best ride and to do it right and safe in the best way. If I wish to give him a high velocity I will usually get the train high (this is done usually in the beging) and I can do it slowly climbing up. Then the coaster has high potential energy that I can transfer to kinetic energy. A second nice and important thing is in loops. The coaster must be able to go through the loop. for this It needs enough energy at the starting point (u can calculate this). how about that? U have any new Ideas? What about turns? what can u do to keep the coaster on track? Good luck! :) Or
