Is 8 a solution of x < -1 or x > 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

insert 8 into x and see if it makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. But it could be yes or no because the first one it could not be a solution and the second one it could be a solution. So I don't know what to do here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x < -1 or x > 7 8 < -1 or 8 > 7... true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Notice the OR...it means the number has to fulfill just one of the two conditions..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I know. It's a yes or no question and I don't know wether to say yes or no to this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok... if you say so... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 8 makes x > 7 true cause 8 > 7
