PLZZZZ HELP HELP HELP During the first part of a trip, a canoeist travels 94 miles at a certain speed. The canoeist travels 22 miles on the second part of the trip at a speed 5 mph slower. The total time for the trip is 2 hrs. What was the speed on each part of the trip?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what the Q looks like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

time = distance / speed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the total time is the time for the 2 parts of the trip

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 = 94/x + 22/(x-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 59.0182

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x - 5 = 54.0182

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i put 54.0182?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

59.02 for the first part, 54.02 for the 2nd...the 2nd part was the slower one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused. What do i put for the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
