OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

ao any body know what is the procedure to apply for an universities plzzzz help its urgent

hero (hero):

contact the admissions counselor for the university you want to attend.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what university?

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

collagepark maryland

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is the procedure I am aware of in the US: 1) Do well in school 2) Do something useful in the community 3) Take SAT or ACT and do well 4) Pick the universities you care about 5) Study deeply about them and identify the reasons and articulate the reason why you like them 6) Read about their admissions process and requirements 7) Comply with the process and requirements

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm curious, why this is urgent? In any case, can you just contact the admissions office there? Or go to http://www.uga.umd.edu/admissions/apply/forms.asp

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

they said write essay according to essay they would select it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who is "they"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Essay is almost a basic requirement these days. You should explain why you want to apply to that specific school and what about their program is appealing to you.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

in admmision process

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Google search for "college admissions essays" and you will find a ton of help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you need to take SAT even if you live in US?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain why this is an urgent question? What deadline are you under?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why US's national exams or something like that is not enough?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the US doesn't have national exams

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can't answer nope to why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is no such thing as a national test. Each school district has its own curriculum. SAT is a standardized way to measure student aptitude.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was reading that final exams in US is AP so whats that AP?

hero (hero):

Advanced Placement. Not every final exam is AP. You only get those if you take AP courses.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are no national final exams in the US at any level.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AP tests are special advanced tests that students can take in high school to receive credit for college courses, to avoid taking beginning college courses once they get to college. AP tests are optional.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SAT or ACT scores are must as far as I know.

hero (hero):

Hmmm, well then, I should be able to get credit for AP Gov and Poltics I took in HS ages ago

hero (hero):

That was the worst AP course of all time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you take an AP test then you can get college credit. If you don't take the AP test then you don't. Usually you take an AP class, and at the end you take a specially nationwide AP test to get college credit for that class.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I took about 5 AP tests in high school

hero (hero):

I took the AP test but I doubt if I scored well.

hero (hero):

As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I got a zero on it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can take AP test without taking the class
