Why would a Southern victory on Northern soil have been significant?

OpenStudy (alison123):

if its during the civil war then the answer would be: A southern victory on northern land would be in fact significant because during the war the south only had to have a stalemate (a draw) to win the war so winning a battle on northern soil would prove they could defend themselves as well as fight the north which would show high chances of victory to the south
