if it's to the nearest cm, 9cm would be 8.5 minimum and 9.5 as maxium. and 12cm would be 12.5 as max and 11.5 as min. 

9.5 times 12.5 gives you the maximum, which is 118.75cm^2
8.5 times 11.5 gives you the minimum, which is 97.76cm^2

No, because you're finding the area of the rectangle, which is length times width.

Because it says each dimension is measure to the NEAREST CM, which is to the nearest 0.5 of each CM. So that's why 8.5 and 9.5 are the minimum and maximum or 9cm
