Determine whether the following polynomials can be factored by grouping. If so, factor the polynomials showing all work. If not, explain why this method will not work. 1.4x^2 + 12xy + 2x + 2y. 2.3m^2 + 6mn + 7m + 14n

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Did I not just do this problem for you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was hard to read and understand

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Can you factor 4x out of 4x^2 + 12xy ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just want the answer...

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The answer is no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to both ? and why not ?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The second one is yes and I showed you the factors

OpenStudy (mertsj):

And I also gave you the answer as to why the first one is no.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first is no, and the second is yes.. but i don't understand how you put it.... please explain better... not in a picture...

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The first one cannot be factored by grouping because after grouping the terms and factoring, the resulting two terms have no common factor.
