Can someone please explain to me where Geometry Come into Real- Life problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont see the need for it

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

lol i dont either but someones gotta learn it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its needed if u want to teach math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i expect its needed in navigation - if you havent got satellite equipment i suppose!!

OpenStudy (king):

dude nuthin in math comes in real-life other than calculating and stuff but if u really love math(LIKE ME) and live fr it(ME) then just do it.......

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

its needed for bigger subjects like Calc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok i will NEVER like math it sucks and it makes gets me irritated

Assuming your life goals don't involve higher mathematics, the importance of learning geometry and other mathematical disciplines is in developing your mind in a way that allows you to clearly and quickly assess what information you are presented with and then reach conclusions based on that information, which is an essential ability for anybody who hopes to advance in whatever career they find themselves.

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Geometry is the most widely used part of maths. It is used in navigation, space and satellites, construction , in sports and many more fields.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ugh whatever i guess ill have to try hard to make myself sit down and learn this idiotic subject

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the spirit :)

Where Geometry comes into real- life problems? It depends on what kind of "real-life" you intend to have. Geometry, and mathematics in general, is useful in the same way reading and writing are useful. In theory you don't need to know any of it, in practice, you would be ignorant and dependent. You may never learn the difference between proof and opinion, or the power of deductive reasoning. You will forever believe that the technology of the modern world is indecipherable magic (and to you, it will be). For you, there will be "real-life" people who will be un-thinking and ignorant, and "fat-cats and rich people" whom you will not even understand… They will live in a different world from you, because they think and reason things out for themselves. As you know from experience, learning how to think is hard work. Once you learn, it becomes a useful habit.
