Hardware problem: My machine no longer does the normal beep while booting. How do I fix this?

It boots silently (not counting the hard drive or the noisy fans).

Just for giggles, what's your volume set at?

it doesn't matter, because that beep is not caused by speakers

probably the system speaker went bad or is unplugged have you been doing anything in inside the case or with the BIOS/CMOS settings ?
