simplify x^2+4x-45/x^2+10x+9 and find the restrictions on the variable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, factor the numerator and denominator to get \[(x-5)(x+9)/(x+9)(x+1)\] Then, Find the things that are the same on the top and bottom and you can cancel them out. In this case, you would cancel the (x+9) from the top and the bottom. You would then receive (x-5)/(x+1) for the answer, and the restriction on the variable would be x can not = -1 because that would be the divide by 0 error
