Very easily. They need to fit furniture in a room and design in the rest of the accent pieces. They would absolutely need measure and design based around different shapes. Leaving enough room for walking/moving things and people around.

Math is the foundation for life's "design" and "engineering" problems. Even art is based on geometry (math). You can't draw a great piece of art without knowing proportion of space and geometry.
