Problem based on Rotation of Rigid Bodies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1323758330491:dw| Note. Surfaces between the cylinder and the blocks of mass are rough, allowing Pure Rolling. Now what I am looking for is a approach to these problems, How am I to place frictional forces and Draw Free Body Diagrams. How the Cylinder should rotate clockwise or anticlockwise, If clockwise then which frictional force should be opposing the rotation and which should be the cause of the rotation, vice-versa. I've already solved the problem but I get confused sometimes and take lot of time to solve such problems. I need a approach to these problems so I won't have to waste (spend more time than required) my time on them.
