If my interval does not include a certain point, I draw a circle around it to indicate that it is not included. open circle! if it is included, i draw a dark circle. If an interval includes everything above a certain number, i shade to the right, or above. if it includes below, i shade to the left, or below. inequalities are used in real life when you talk about static friction in physics. static friction varies based on the normal force and can have a value anywhere above 0 to mu of s * N perpendicular, where mu of s is the static coefficient of friction and N perpendicular is the perpendicular component of the normal force to the frictional force that opposes motion. 0<= static friction max <= (mu of s) * (N perp)
