What's the difference between ATP and ADP in photosynthesis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ADP has one less phosphate group (3-1=2) and therefore less potential energy. Chlorophyll turns light energy into chemical energy, which is passed along a series of compounds to an enzyme called ATP synthase, which uses the energy to catalyze the conversion of ADP and phosphate into ATP.
