Just for today :)
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
soooooo?
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
can you help me?
OpenStudy (turingtest):
It's really best just to ask the questions, I don't know how many of them I can stick around for.

well simply I don't have a question I just want to see what I need to work on.?
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
by someone writing me questions
OpenStudy (turingtest):
not really sure what you need
can you simplify\[(-2x)^{-3}\]that's a start...
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
ok
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
1/(-2x)^3=-1/8x^3

OpenStudy (pokemon23):
I kind of struggle
OpenStudy (turingtest):
assuming you mean-1/(8x^3) you're correct
be sure to use parentheses
OpenStudy (turingtest):
you meant \[{-1\over8x^3}\]right?
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
yes
OpenStudy (turingtest):
good, then you have no problem there

OpenStudy (pokemon23):
kind of have?
OpenStudy (turingtest):
like how? you got the correct answer.
how about simplifying\[(3x^3)(2x)^{-4}\]?
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
ok let me
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
3x*2x=6x
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
1/6x^1

OpenStudy (turingtest):
not quite, first simplify \[(2x)^{-4}\]you cant multiply what is inside the parentheses until you have gotten rid of the exponents outside of them
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
1/2x^4
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
right?
OpenStudy (turingtest):
no, you forgot this rule:\[(ab)^x=a^xb^x\]you neglected the 2, try again...
OpenStudy (pokemon23):
x^4

no watch:\[(2x)^{-4}={1\over(2x)^4}={1\over2^4x^4}={1\over16x^4}\]follow that?
OpenStudy (turingtest):
we applied two rules above:\[(ab)^x=a^xb^x\]and\[x^{-a}={1\over x^a}\]
