how do i clear a variable in visual basic?
this is the code

Dim friends As New Hashtable
Console.WriteLine("enter student number and name seperatly, press p to print hashtable")
Dim x As Integer
Dim y As String
Do

x = Console.ReadLine()
y = Console.ReadLine()
friends.Add(x, y)
Loop Until Console.ReadLine() = "p"

every time it loops i need it to clear the variables x and y. thanks.

everytime you loop new values are assigned to x and y, so we can say that x and y are cleared and new value is put in, so you don't have to do anything else
