When did the first photosynthetic life appear on earth? When did the first photosynthetic organisms appear?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wasn't there. But scientists found stromatolithes from 3.2 billion years ago that contain photosynthetic organisms. this, and the upcoming of slate in australia, are strong evidence for photosynthetic organisms.

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

Photosynthetic life started appearing roughly about 3 billions years ago when Earth's oxygen started to appear. But its really just an estimation

OpenStudy (cathyangs):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

photosynthesis occurs first in eubacteria and first aerobic photosynthesis in which oxygen evolved is occur in cyanobacteria
