A line segment between the midpoints of the legs of a trapezoid Also known as midline or midsegment midpoint of the first leg = 4a/2, 4b/2 midpoint of second leg = 4c +(4D -4C)/2, 4b/2 = 2c +2d, 2b so it is obvious the y value of the midpoint will be 2b but what about the x value 2a + (2c + 2d -2a)/2 = a + c + d so the answer is (a +c +d , 2b) The technique here is just to add on half the difference between the points to the value of the first point. draw out a simple set of points, like (2,4) and (6,4). the midpoint is obviously 4,4 when is calculated from 2 + (6-2)/2 = 4
