not so much, but I think that's because I live in India. I have recommended to some of my classmates and 2 of the them have also joined.

No one I have spoken with at my school has known about OpenStudy until I told them about it. As for the best way to spread the word, short of doing advertizing in each and every school in the world, the best way to get the word out is for users to offer a testimonial.

Do people know about Openstudy at my university? Not really. 

How to spread the word: "If you know about it, tell your friends about it"  Post on facebook, twitter, your blog, etc. :)
