A young mother takes her 3-year old child into a gift shop. There are 4 statues, 3 picture frames and 3 vases on a shelf. The child accidentally knocks two items off the shelf and breaks them. What is the probability that the child broke a picture frame, then a vase? please show me the steps
First add 4+3+3=10 then 3+3=6 6/10 is the probability of breaking a vase and picture frame.
but the answer is 1/10. i don't know how to get it
oh, well its impossible to get 1/10 with two things.
A. 2/15 B. 1/15 C. 1/10 D.1/5 C is right
look its very easy first if we see there are 10 things |dw:1324101252156:dw| this digram shows that ist out of 10 any thing can fall and second except that first thing other 9 things can fall. so in case to get total no. of outcomes we will multiply 10*9=90 and by question we need only those outcomes in which first picture breakes then vase.|dw:1324101588622:dw| this shows that first out of three pictures any one can fall and in second anyone of three vase one can fall so total no. of favarable outcomes will be 3*3=9 so the probability will be=favarable outcomes/total out comes =9/90=1/10
