OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Someone who asks a question should be able to indicate if "the answer helped me learn or understand" or "if the person answering merely gave me the answer, and I in fact learned nothing from the exchange." I'm sure there's a way to shorten these two options. :)

And what's the point of it? If person really wants to learn he can ask how it's done and usually answerer explains it, however most users just need answers. And if you want help yourself you just go through questions anyway aren't you? And if you don't want to go through all questions better would be to have button "question answered" as it was suggested before and if user happy with just answer he would press it if it needs more explanation then it wouldn't.

good idea, that way we'll know whether our answers were really useful for the user or not and that way we'll be able to know what exactly the user expects.

Don't we already have medals that do the same thing?

I don't think the problem on Open Study is that too many people who are eager to learn don't get help. It is that there are too many people who just want quick serial answers. :) Solving the latter problem should be a higher priority.
