You need to move a 105kg sofa to a diffrent room. It takes a force of 102 N to start it moving. What is the coefficient of static friction between sofa and carpet?

Well, the sofa is exerting 105kg * 9.8 m/s^2 * kg of force, so that will be our normal force. And then you know that the sofa will start moving once the exerted force has passed 102N. \[F _{s} = \mu * F_{n}\] So, you can use this equation to solve for \[\mu\]
