what is rRNA?

OpenStudy (blues):

rRNA is "ribosomal RNA" and it means the RNA components of ribosomes. The other components of ribosomes are proteins - like most typical enzymes. This is a really easy question - you'd be better served to look it up on Wikipedia than post it on open study and wait for other people to answer it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ribosomal ribonucleic (rRNA) is RNA that forms part of ribosomes. rRNA plays a role in translation, in which mRNA's codons and tRNA's anticodons are used to build a protein.
