Explain, in complete sentences, which method you would use to solve the following system of equations and why you chose that method. Show your work and provide the solution to the system. 5x + 3y = –7 4x – 2y = –10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you would do a simultaneous equaion. Using eq. 1, we know that (-7 - 5x)/ 3 = y. Then we plug that into eq 2 to get 4x - 2((-7-5x)/3) = -10. THen we solve for x and then plug that value into any of the twi equations to get the value of y.

Thank you

OpenStudy (ash2326):

this is method of substitution

OpenStudy (ash2326):

we used this because it's easy to find the value of y in terms of x from second equation
