Just start. The information is provided on the page on the link. Also you will need to download Python, I suggest version 2 for this course, although some people prefer 3, the course uses 2. I have 2.7

Everyone seems to have this initial problem too - when you actually go to write your first assignment, go to 'new window' in Shell and a different window will pop up, save your programs there.

If you're like me, I was assuming that this course was instructor directed. I was looking for a specific date to start with the course.

It's all self directed and you work at your own pace. Just start with the first video lecture and reading assignments and then work on the first problem set (0). You can move on from there or give yourself a break after that.
