How do you see if there is a Rat in your computer? and i mean "rat" as in a program that takes control of your computer..

Umm... what makes you believe there's a "rat" in it?  You could always delve into digital forensics & read lots of logs, but that will take knowledge & experience to hunt down such a program.  

Maybe more importantly, what are you doing to get a program like that on your computer in the first place? Are you using torrents? Downloading untrusted files & programs?

no... I am NOT sure if I even have one on my computer! I want to know if I do because I think someone that is mad at me was trying to put one on my computer! I do NOT download torrents or anything that I am not sure that is safe...

Do you have an activity monitor or similar utility/programme? This can tell you what's running and/or taking up cpu time ram space etc. This may not tell you what it is but could indicate that something is there.
