Gunter, the weightlifter, can lift a 230.0 kg barbell overhead on Earth. The acceleration due to gravity on the sun is 274 m/s^2. What is the weight of the barbell on the sun (if he was safe from the heat)? How much force does each arm carry?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does g stand for the gravity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, I was totally wrong previously.... 1 kg on earth is 1 kg on the sun.... The barbells mass is 230 kg.... Its weight is 230*274 Newtons The force through the guys arm (assuming 1 arm and only vertical forces) is 230*274/2 Newtons

*assuming 2 arms ><

Okay, thanks ^^

sorry for that, I get confused with mass and weight sometimes (this time ;P)
