How do i write decimals as a fraction or a mixed number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's say that our decimal is 0.32 Step 1: Count the decimal places. Decimal places = 2 Step 2: Place the number over a denominator that is a multiple of 10. 32/100 (NOTE that the number of decimal places is the exact number of zeros in the denominator. The number of zeros will always equal the number of decimal places. If it was, for example: 0.132, then the denominator would have been 1000 - three decimal places, three zeros. Step 3: Simplify the fraction. This fraction can be simplified by 4: (32/100) ÷ (4/4) = 8/25 There's your fraction. Hope I helped!
