For problem 6, it's just simple arithmetic. |a| means take the absolute value of a, which is a if a > 0, or -a if a < 0. In this case, a = -1.4 so |a| = 1.4 and the expression is 1.4 + (-2.7) = -1.3 For 7, the graphs differ in whether or not the dividing line is included (we've got an = sign in the inequality, so it is included) and which side of the graph is shaded. Take a point such as (0,0) and plug it into the inequality to see whether it satisfies the inequality; if it does, the shaded area should cover that point. 2*0+3*0 <= 6, so (0,0) is in the shaded area, and we need a solid line because we include the line. For 8, remember that the product of the slopes of perpendicular lines will be -1. Put the lines in form y=mx+b and m is the slope. Then choose the pair of lines where the two values of m multiplied together gives you -1.
