for the mit compsci course should we do one problem set a week (for every two lectures?)

not exactly. The lectures are not exactly 2 lectures one assignment. Anyway I just recommend you go at your own pace. Also as someone else said, we do not have the benefit or professor tutors or recitations (I think that means labs/tutes) so perhaps it is not feasible to go at the pace of the MIT course.
