I think you should disable the delete option. I answered a question in math. After a user got the answer, he or she deleted the question and I didn't get my medal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if she wouldn't delete it doesn't mean you get auto medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know but its kind of unfair, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

People are misusing it. Some people, once their question is answered, delete it.

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

Thanks for the suggestion pratu, we're actually in the process of re-evaluating how the delete functionality works for multiple reasons. It's good to hear your feedback on the issue.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Yeah, we've seen this issue before. It is indeed quite annoying. We're considering a few options in this space, including making users' own deletes only really hide the post, so moderators can later restore the question if desired. Do note that if you get a medal and the question is then deleted, you keep both your medal and XP, though there are some things we're considering around that (e.g., moderator deletes will probably soon undo medals/XP). But it's true that you can't get future medals/XP. Do report abuse when people do that, however. We'll probably add some guidelines around when you should be deleting your question (e.g., it's misstated, or there is abusive behavior in the replies).

Delete functionality is awesome for anyone answering the question in the case they make a mistake in the answer. It happens to me sometimes that I just calculate something wrong and lead the user down the wrong path and would like to retract my answer using delete feature. May be limiting delete to people who did not submit the question is a good compromise.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can make mistakes in question too. shadowfiend's solution is rather good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or perhaps you could remove the facility to delete a question. Now that GT has pointed out that it is useful while answering a question, I thought that maybe you could add the option of being able to delete only answers and not questions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understood that at the beginning you asked to remove "delete" from questions only (not answers)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I suggested to remove the delete option(I wasn't thinking of questions in particular).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then i totally disagree because sometimes you may make mistake and then delete it and repost with fixed answer since there's no edit and even if there was edit you could haver posted incorrect answer and wanted to delete it
