Hey willis..We've got a subject called Design and Analysis of Algorithm..
and i do remember studying something for a theory question similar to yours.
 Following a Top Down design...First develop the algorithm at a simpler level based on your understanding of the problem...relate it to anything similar that you've learnt in the past..some problems require you to trace back from the solution,also known as Backtracking..are some of the steps that i think would help you to be able to fare well at algorithms.

what is backtracking? Could you explain me more?
Yeah, I have done at a simpler level based on ma understanding! but some problem, i don't understand at all! such as ma teacher as me to draw a rectangle which allow user input width and height...

Backtracking, from what we've learnt in theory classes, means getting to the problem from the solution. At the moment, I don't really remember any examples for you to refer..but I'll try to get you one so that you understand better.
