What would a drummer do to make the sound of a drum give a note of lower pitch? a. hit the drum skin with a larger force b. hit the drum skin with a smaller force c. hit the drum skin nearer the edge d. loosen the drum skin

OpenStudy (turingtest):

The higher the frequency of vibration of the drum skin, the higher the pitch. Which of the above do you think will cause the drum skin to vibrate more slowly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then I think then it's c, because if a drum is beaten at the edge, lesser vibrations will occur !!!

OpenStudy (turingtest):

no, actually the impulse of the hit will still cause the same amount of vibration assuming it has the same energy. how about this: which vibrates more slowly a rubber band stretched tight, or one that is left slack?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

off course the one left slack !!!

OpenStudy (turingtest):

so what about the drum?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh yeah, got it, thanx !!!
