There are different formats and windows media player could only play a few formats ...try playing them on vlc media player

The file might simply be corrupted. However, I would go with ajay's suggestion to get vlc: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Remove the Microsoft and install a Linux or buy a Mac. Your problem will be solved.
