Well, I learned some of this in psychology but I believe I still recall most of it lol. The biological basis of sleep is for the body to repair the body and brain. Dreams occur in the R.E.M(Rapid Eye Movement) cycle. It is important so it does not knock our biological clock out of place, which can cause a lot of other problems.
