the hamburger was renamed salisbury steak during WWI. This would be considered an example of _____ some americans developed towards the ___ a. fear; british b. hate; europeans c. fear; french d. distrust; germans

OpenStudy (blues):

Probably D, as "Hamburger" is close to "Hamburg" which is a city in Germany. Do you remember the American government actually renamed french fries "Freedom Fries" back in 2003 when the French refused to participate in the U.S. led invasion of Iraq? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i also think it is d I thought it was World War 2 they were renamed "salisbury steaks" because the term "hamburgers" originally came from Germany, and Americans were trying their best to prevent any association with that country at the time.
