hi guys it is very important for me plzzz help.do u guys know how to test the amount of pollution ?example i lighting a cigar how to check th elevel of pollution ?plz help

OpenStudy (jamesj):

You're asking if you can use the lighting of a cigar to test for air pollution levels? Normally we define air pollution levels as being the number of particles of material or type of gas in the air. For example: - different types of gases: CO2, O3, NO3, SOx, CH4, ... - particulates: typically carbon compounds from manufacturing or other combustion, such as cars or forest fires Now, given all that, what is it you're really asking?

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

how can i test the pollution in air and trying to make a comparison between normal and polluting environment, how to test the quality of air

OpenStudy (jamesj):

A simple particulate test would be to run two samples through an air filter and compare how much is trapped by the filter. But for most of these things, especially the gas pollutants, you need to a chemical analysis of the air.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

like i need to test with in a minute, what is the name of filter

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Here's another simple experiment: http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/EnvSci_p009.shtml

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

ya i saw this this is my exp HYPOTHESIS: - If I conduct static electricity of high voltage to the pollutants then the pollution from the chimney could be stopped. • MATERIALS :- one cardboard tube about one foot long and one inch diameter • Thin aluminum foil 4 inch wide • One matchbox • Any lighted thing which would produce fire • One switch • Steel iron rod • Magnetic wire 24guage PROCEDURE:-take one cardboard tube about 12” long and 1” in diameter. Drill a hole of about 1” diameter near one of its ends. • Take aluminum foil about 4” wide and wrap it around the cardboard tube near the other end. • Hang one thick metal wire down the center of the tube such that it does not touch the walls of the tube. • Take steel rod and magnetic wire wind the wire around steel rod about 50 turns and again wind it about 1000 loops which makes an induction coil. • Connect the foil with the high voltage terminal of an induction coil through a switch and the hanging wire to the other terminal of the induction coil. • Bring a lit cigarette near the hole of the tube, the smoke will out from the chimney. • Now, put on the induction coil in the circuit and again bring the lit cigarette near hole. In this case, the chimney. Will not give out any smoke. CONTROL GROUP: - the cardboard with just the cigarette. INDEPENDENT VARIABLE: - induction coil connected with the chimney. DEPENDENT VARIABLE: - smoke of the chimney. CONSTANT(S):- lighted thing which would produce fire, chimney.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

for this i want to test the results how to plz

OpenStudy (jamesj):

If you want to do the experiment you've just outlined, then you'll have to do it. I can't tell you what the results to your experiment will be. By the way, the experiment you've just given is not a test of air pollution, but something else. I assume you're aware of that.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

i mean how to check the amount of pollution for this the one with induction coil and the normal

OpenStudy (jamesj):

I'm sorry. I can not understand your English very well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i m making a chimney for controlling smoke pollution.- http://books.google.co.in/books?id=FzU9jhUAxhoC&pg=PA76&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=4#v=onepage&q&f=false ref. 2 da above link which contains the project.. pls guide me which induction coil i.e. of what rating should be used?
