Determine the sample space for the experiment. Five coins are flipped and the number of heads observed is recorded. A. S = {1¸ 2¸ 3¸ 4¸ 5} B. S = {5} C. S = {0¸ 1¸ 2¸ 3¸ 4¸ 5} D. S = {HT¸ TH} E. S = {HHHHH}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tricky ... we want to count the number of heads, we can eliminate the last two since these are not numbers .... what is your guess?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A, B or c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think maybe c. because its possible the coin did not land on heads at all. so the zero would be included

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nice!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If you flip 5 coins you have these outcomes for the number of heads: TTTTT = 0 heads HTTTT = 1 head HHTTT = 2 heads HHHTT = 3 heads HHHHT = 4 heads HHHHH = 5 heads So if you record the number of heads, you could record 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and that is your sample space.
