Which of the following equations represents a proportional relationship? a. y=x-1 b. y= -1/4x c. y=5/2x-5/4 d.y= -2x-1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

a proportional relation is defined as an equation which is of the form y=k/x where k is any real number. So your answer is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how do i prove it is a proportional relationship though?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Isn't that an inverse you wrote akshay? It should be equations of the form y=kx

OpenStudy (turingtest):

is it\[y=-{1\over4x}\]or\[y=-{1\over4}x\]???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It must be -x/4.

OpenStudy (phi):

Here's a Khan video http://www.khanacademy.org/video/proportionality?playlist=ck12.org+Algebra+1+Examples if you need more info.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou!

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

proportional relation is y=kx. yea sorry for that guys

OpenStudy (turingtest):

It's all good. I figure people should be expecting impaired help on new years, I know I've been messing up today.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):
