I NEED HELP! whats 3x^2-42x+147? how would you do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2-14x+49

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-7)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you do that? don't you have to have 2 sets of parenthesis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-7)^2 is (x-7) (x-7) However, remember that you factored out a 3, and you need to keep it in the answer, otherwise it's wrong.

What you want to do first with a polynomial like this is see if there are any common factors. If there are, it is SO much easier to factor it out.
