I'm seeing a few differences. First, the Christians began loosing momentum and were less successful in their campaigns. Second, the objectives of the warfare. In the earlier crusades, the objectives were to protect the rights of people to pass freely to the holy land of Jerusalem and to stake a christian claim on Jerusalem. Later, the Christians began to fought for more than Jerusalem, including Spain from the Moors, the Slavs and Pagans from eastern Europe, and the islands of the Mediterranean. Also, the first four are considered the most significant.

The first four were more significant in that they effected the social, economic, and political landscape of Europe the most.
