If someone is a drug addict (or smoker, alcoholic, etc) and then they have amnesia for a long time, will they still feel the need to take drugs/smoke/drink while having amnesia?

their body and immune system are addicted to the drug. the brain may not remember what the body is addicted to....so they will go through withdrawl not knowing what their drug of choice is.
