OpenStudy (ash2326):

a) 4x^2=20 x^2=5 x= \[x=\pm \sqrt 5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

some really random math here solutions are where the graph crosses the x- axis at \[\pm\sqrt{5}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"solutions" and "x-intercept" are synonyms, so same answer for both

OpenStudy (ash2326):

f(x)=4x^2-20 for x intercept f(x)=0 which gives x=+ root 5 or - root 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm SOO confused. Whats the answer for a) & b)?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

both are same root 5 and - root 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i just put \[\sqrt{5}\]?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

no both root 5 and -root 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So like this?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

yeah, correct. you can see from the graph that the curve is cutting x axis twice, so there are two solutions and two intercepts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok THX

OpenStudy (ash2326):

welcome
