The mass ratio of nuts, chocolate chips and raisins in a fruit bar is 3:1:4. Nuts cost $5 per kg, chocolate chips cost $7.80 per kg an raisins cost $4.50 per kg. Calculate the selling price of each 50g fruit bar, correct to the nearest cent, if the manufacturer wants to earn 35 cents from each bar.
Pls help, I have tried but I keep getting the wrong answer.. Correct answer: 61 cents
Firstly you would have to work out the weight f each ingredient in one bar, by using the ratio, so you get 18.75g of nuts:6.25g of choc:25g of raisins
then work out the cost of the weight of each ingredient, so for nuts, you get (18.75/1000) * $5, which is $.093.then you get the price of choc, which is (6.25/1000) * $7.80 which is $0.048, then for raisins you do 25/1000) * $4.50 = $0.1125. add up the costs and then add 35 cents
Refer to the Mathematica attachment.
Thank you so much for helping :D
