Can someone give me an example in averages so i can try to solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Today, meverett04 was awarded 567 medals, FoolForMath 501, TuringTest 398 and fewscrewsmissing 6. What was the average of medals awarded amongst these people?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the average: 4, 7, 7, 2 Add them up 4 +7 +7+2 = 20 Divide by the number of numbers, that is 4 20/4 = 5 5 is the answer. You try one -1, 0, 2, 5, 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

567+501+398+6=1472 1472/4=368 was the average of how many medals that were handed out today.

Nice!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Very good =) If the average is 70, find the missing number: 19, 112, 94, ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No luck?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, im sorry, iwas in theshower

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ill give it a try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

19+112+94+x ------------- = 70, right? 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yus! High fives all around.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But wait, im not done yet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70*4=280 19+112+94=225 280-225=55! 55=the missing number for the equation to become 19+112+94+55 ------------- = 70 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh right. Haha sorry, I looked at what you said before and saw it immediately so took it to be solved, forgot we were trying to work it out... But NOW high fives all round! It is indeed 55.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gold star.
