C and Assembly: Is it possible for me to crash my system and overwrite my root disk, or make it FUBAR in any way, using the C language? What about native assembly?

Maybe using system calls in C, I can do system('format C').... but if I don't use system calls, is there any other way in C that I can ruin my machine?

If you are root then you can probably do anything to your machine from C or assembly
