Hi I have been shortlisted for the interview at the University I applied. Can you guys help me with any suggestions or any advice or any help? Or any questions that are commonly asked and I should be prepared for?
Universities generally want to see people who are hungry for learning and are willing to put themselves out there and try new things.
Owlfred, thank you for the reply. One thing I'm really afraid of, is that I don't want to be unable to answer any of the questions. Also I'm afraid what if I get so nervous infront of the intervieews that my mouth get all dried up, and I cant spit a word out.
don't think much of it, then you won't be nervous
And you might want to remove any offensive or bad photos and posts off you twitter, facebook, and other social media sites soon.
Also I want to know any of the questions that they can ask?
some ideas: What are your plans for the next few years? What do you want to get out of college?
@raging, Really? are the going to check my profiles on these social sites?
zeerak which uni
Most of them do.
Definitely. In this day and age, when applying for a job or education, they will definitely google you. Maybe Google your name and see what comes up.
(Not that you need to or should share your name here)
what? wouldn't that a plus if they found you to be a member here?
Not if you ask too obvious questions.
Most definitely! But I don't want Zeerak to think that they have to post their real name. You could always tell them about your activity on this site (if you've been active). Helping others without being required to is a big way to show your interest in education.
:) I was once called for an interview in a different institution, it was for an exchange program. I passed the tests but I was rjected in the interview. They gave me the remarks that I sound rude, and that I don't want to open up. It was really threatning for me. I dont want to end up my chance at this university with any such remarks. Any suggestions on that?
I'm from Pakistan.
@Owlfred: Thanks, but actually my real name is Zeerak.
Have you ever heard of the "no is that all zone"?
well, if they call you for interview, your chances are pretty good
@Raging, Umm I'm afraid but may be no. Can you explain?
Usually at resturants and places like that, even the smallest thing can offend a customer. The business owners tell employees not to ask "is that all?", and instead ask "anything else I can get for you?". It's those small things that make a big difference.
@Raging: Thank you very much. This will help me really.
No problem. :)
If they ask me what do you do in your spare time? What should I say that should sound interesting, of course I dont want to answer it with facebooking.
do you work,or play sport?
Connecting with friends. ;)
I don't really play sports, but I do work, I help my mom with her clothing boutique.
How should I star that university interview? What would be really interesting and appealing to the interviewees?
What kind of college is this?
Also, I'm going o apply for a scholarship at the same time? How should I keep it down to earth?
why down to earth?
@Raging: Undergraduate and Postgraduate offering studies in business and computer sciences.
@imran, I think that would appeal if I'm applying for a scholarship.
how should i answer" tell me about yourself" question in an interview?
From the looks of things, you are very creative, you like to hang out with friends, and you help your mom with her business.
Just be calm and tell them about yourself.
Thank you Raging, actually this question is the most difficult one for me.
