Which of the following explains the role of banana plants as pictured in the rainforest food web shown below?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. They are chemoautotrophs that use organic chemicals as an energy source to make food when not enough sunlight is available. b. They are heterotrophs that get their energy by consuming autotrophs and other heterotrophs. c. They are photoautotrophs that make food by converting water and carbon dioxide into glucose and oxygen, using energy from the sun. d. They are saprotrophs that recycle organic waste into food that can be eaten by consumers.

I can't really read a food web. but the banana plant is a photoautotroph organism and therefore c) is right.

OpenStudy (kainui):

Since the food web doesn't show any arrows pointing towards the banana like the fungi and slime molds, you know it isn't a saprotroph nor is it a heterotroph like a jaguar for the same reason. It isn't consuming any of the other creatures, that's all those arrows mean, who's getting eaten by what. Considering that bananas have green leaves it's fair to say they're photoautotrophs that use chlorophyll to obtain sunlight for food.

so is it c or a?
