Oh, hey guys. I need a bit of help with this... Which of the following is the slope between the two points (5, 1)and (4, 6)? My answer: x= 5-4=1 y= 1-6=-5 is it plain old -5/1 (-5 over 1) which is simplified to -5?

Not quite. You're on the right track, but it's: \[\Large \frac{{{y_2} - {y_1}}}{{{x_2} - {x_1}}}\] In this particular case you're fortunate enough to land on the same slope, but remember you take the second from the first, not the other way round like you have here.
